# 2, week 16

I had my 16 week appointment on Monday...or so I thought! I get to the doctor's office and they ask my name as I'm signing in. Then they asked what time my appointment was and I thought this can't be good. The receptionist then informed me that my appointment was Tuesday, not Monday. Uh-oh...I'm sure I looked like I was about to cry. She said that she would check and see if they could go ahead and see me. Fortunately, they did...and I don't know why they wouldn't, I'm an easy appointment right now! They weighed me, made me leave a urine sample, listened to the baby's heartbeat and I was on my way! My next appointment is the BIG one...we get to find out what we're having! Maybe I'll change the blog background as an indicator...we'll see. We should at least have some ultrasound pictures that I can post on here instead of the generic ones I've been using. Also, I'm going to get Jeff to start taking a picture of me each week so maybe I'll put that on here too...maybe.
On another note, there are a lot of changes happening in our family and this could be a very busy month/month & a half. Please keep us in your prayers. I'll update more about that when the time comes.

Here's what babycenter.com says the baby is doing:

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
